A LOOK INWARD. The global pandemic forced many people to reflect deeply and consider priorities. Self-care, well-being, beauty and overall health related products are top of mind. Cooking at home, trying to stay healthy, physically and mentally, will continue to be significant considerations for the consumer’s disposable income.

THE QUARANTINE FIFTEEN. Athletic wear and fitness equipment were among the few thriving categories during the past year. Closures of public spaces and working from home, athleisure is the obvious choice for moving from Zoom meeting to Skype yoga session. This trend will continue to thrive in 2021 as business attire has been reimagined and personal well-being dictates product consideration and placement.

FROM AFAR. Community building, reaching out, and connection are all paramount for human health. Professionally, religiously, romantically, academically - we have all adapted and forged relationships and communities when it did not seem possible. The focus on support and connection with others has become one of the most important components of pandemic survival and our current reality. New technology and a widespread adaption will be one of the most important considerations for the consumer.

STAYCATION. As most of the population has been confined to their own minds, creativity and physical dwelling space, streaming entertainment, virtual reality, and easily consumable content through widespread providers, applications and technology fetched considerable consumer dollars over the last year. Vacation rentals as well as travel promotions also are an area of interest. Escaping reality has been and will be a profitable area of the market. The consumer wants to invest in an experience, whether it is at home or a weekend away, because it provides diversion, expansion and a sense of control.
